Sailing on NCL Aqua

Just Returned from the NCL Aqua!

I recently returned from an exhilarating 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's newest ship, the Aqua — and let me tell you, it was a fantastic experience!

Our itinerary took us to stunning ports including Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and Tortola. However, we faced a slight hiccup as our stop at Great Stirrup Cay was unfortunately cancelled due to windy conditions. Nevertheless, I am optimistic that once the new pier is completed later this year, such weather-related cancellations will become a thing of the past.

A Quick Tip for Future Cruisers

For those planning to set sail soon, here’s a valuable tip: until March 1, 2026, drink packages purchased onboard will continue to be honored on Great Stirrup Cay. After this date, guests will need to purchase a separate drink package for use on the island — a trend that is becoming common across various cruise lines.

For instance, Carnival’s Celebration Key will also require the purchase of a shore excursion to access, with costs varying based on your selected food and drink options. This evolution in private island access and amenities is definitely something to consider while planning your next cruise adventure!
